FSI Worldwide End Human Trafficking Now Business leader award in Davos

FSI Worldwide’s CEO Tristan Forster has been nominated for an award at the End Human Trafficking New business leader’s awards.
“The Business Leader’s Award [to Fight Human Trafficking] is not only a recognition of a businessperson’s past achievements in combating human trafficking. It also looks to the future,” said Dr. Nafis Sadik, member of the Award Jury. “Through this Award, our task is to inspire businesspeople worldwide to take action against this terrible scourge.”
The ceremony wasl held in Davos during the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, at the Dome of the Seehof Hotel, where the Trophy, created by Chopard, was bestowed to the winner by Caroline Scheufele, Chopard’s Artistic Director and Co-President.

Human trafficking is “modern-day slavery” with more slaves at work today than there has ever been at any point in history. Approximately 2.5 million people are trafficked every year. It is the third most lucrative and fastest growing criminal activity in the world, with an estimated market value of $32 billion.

“A great deal is at stake for legitimate businesses if human trafficking continues to flourish”, said David Arkless, President of the Board, End Human Trafficking Now.

According to the International Labour Organization, victims of forced labor lose an estimated $20 billion every year in unpaid earnings. This provides a powerful economic argument for stepping up action against human trafficking, and makes the economic calculus as important as the moral argument.

The Award is a joint initiative of End Human Trafficking Now and the United Nations. The winner is selected by an international Jury of eminent personalities acting upon a recommendation of an Advisory Committee composed of experts who specialize in forced labour policies, supply chain management and corporate social responsibility.
