INDRA GURUNG

REGIONAL DIRECTOR, INDIA & NEPAL - ASIA

Indra Gurung is a Board Director with an executive role as the Regional Director for India and Nepal. Other than monitoring the output of the two countries, he is responsible for enhancing the Board’s understanding of the region as well as informing them about the opportunities that contribute to increasing FSI Worldwide’s operational capability.

He initially joined FSI Worldwide as Operations Manager in early 2012 and concentrated mostly on supporting projects in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as overseeing recruitment and training in Nepal, India and Jordan. More recently, he was assigned as the Deputy Country Manager for the Nepal office before taking on the current role of Regional Director for India and Nepal.

Indra is a former Gurkha Officer and brings in huge operational, training and management experience from his 25 years of military service in the British Army. Having retired in 2007, Indra worked for a couple of years with Hampshire County Council initially with the Youth Offending Team and later with the Children Services Department as Learning and Development Officer (Substance Abuse). He has a Diploma on Drugs and Alcohol Addiction Studies and is a qualified substance abuse counselor.

Indra has deep love for martial arts and has been practicing it for over 40 years. He is the chief instructor at Zen Martial Arts Academy in the UK. He holds an 8th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. Indra is extremely passionate about supporting charity work and spends a lot of his spare time and energy supporting private organizations that looks after under privileged children, mainly in the rural areas of Nepal.
